Templates - Frequently Asked Questions

If you are a Premium Support Contract customer, we don't charge for minor template changes.   That's one of the many reasons that a Premium Support contract is a good idea!

If you have a Standard Support Contract, we charge a small fixed fee for minor template changes to contribute to the time it takes to make the changes, check them, and upload the updated templates (up to three templates included).

For all customers, we quote for more significant template changes before starting work, estimating the hours it will take to make the template changes.

In many cases, yes.

Templates for reports (asbestos, water hygiene, fire and other services) are usually Word documents with special tags.  You can download your templates from within Alpha Tracker and edit them.  

Cosmetic changes are straightforward for clients to make.  Changes to report structure (or any of the special tags) are more difficult and we recommend that you ask us to make the change or, at the very least, check the change before we replace the template(s) on your system.  We also version-track and carefully record each template change in case we need to revert and to help with accreditation assessments.

Please note that some clients have direct access to their servers and can upload their own template changes.

Not usually!  At least, not for asbestos surveying reports.  We can supply standard templates for water hygiene, asbestos air monitoring and some fire services as these are typically standard across the industry.

Most new clients want us to create special templates so that Alpha Tracker produces reports and quotes which are identical to those you already produce.

Sorry, no.  

We are sometimes asked if we can copy another consultancy's report formats but this would not be ethical. You would need to create a mock-up of the design you would like and then send it through to us.
